If I was the evening, you know I'd send you a breeze

Picture: My mom on the porch at my aunt and uncle's house in Denver. Downtown was under the clouds, but up in Golden we watched a beautiful sunrise. My parents are flying to Denver on Friday to visit my grandpa who's slowly...getting old. The last time my mom was there me and Amanda surprised her and I SO wish I could this time too. But unfortunately, the reality of a budget and a full-time job are holding me back. Enjoy the view and the hot tub for me, mom and dad!

I just read all the lyrics of Ryan Adams' Miss Sunflower for the first time. (The song that this title is from.) It's on my and Dan's sleep playlist, so I hear it pretty much every night. But I never realized how pretty it is. "If I was a sunset, I'd want to lay on your bed / and I'd watch the Hollywood lights flicker as it started to dim / If I was a movie, you know I'd feel pretty good. I'd watch you dancing all night in the dark where I stood." It's a pretty song. You should go listen to it.

The last little while for me has been laden with baking! I made homemade wheat bread, homemade bagels and yesterday I spent all afternoon and night slowly drying slices of apple in a 250 degree oven. Everything is really good! Except I think I killed the yeast on the wheat bread because it didn't rise as much as it should have. I've decided I want to try making lots of things from scratch. I think it's such a cool skill to have - not to mention it's MUCH healthier! When we're homeowners I'll definitely have a garden. It's a must.

Yesterday I treated myself to a mini-shopping trip! I had $10 worth of Eddie Bauer points to spend, a 15% off coupon from Gap and a free panties coupon from Victoria's Secret. I took advantage of everything! (And me and Dan still managed to come in under budget last week!) Sadly though, something possessed me to buy a horizontally striped shirt with a pocket on the front of the stomach (think hoodie pocket). I tried it on at home and DEFINITELY looked pregnant. That one's going back.

My lack of follow-through his come back to haunt me. I stopped going to the chiropractor after my unfortunate nerve-in-neck incident. (Side note: I have an extra vertebrae in my spine and my neck is completely straight - there's no curve in it like there should be. The chiropractor asked me, "Did you experience some kind of trauma as a child?" I could've responded with oh-so many witty remarks.) Anyway, I had a pinched nerve in my neck, and since my body was trying to alleviate itself from undue pain, my neck was forcing itself to one side, creating an insanely overworked muscle. I can easily say, it was some of the most intense pain I've felt in my life thus far. The chiro said, "Be sure to keep coming in for adjustments, or else this will happen again." Dan lost his job and I stopped going. It's happening again.

There is an incredibly tense meeting going on in the conference room right now. This is the internet, so I won't go into detail. My hands are kind of sweating and I want to jump in front of my bosses and defend them with my cunning rhetoric. "Something's going down in Roughedge."

Speaking of work, my boss approved my time off in July! Waxhaw, here we come! Ryan's, Chick-Fil-A, running at the JAARS center, coffee on the back porch, Mercy laughing, Crowder's Mountain...I love home.
