But He said, "My grace is sufficient for you..."

Picture: From my mom. This is in Madang, Papua New Guinea.

His grace IS sufficient for us! Last Monday one of Dan's interviews called and offered him a job! Praise the Lord!

I'm so overwhelmed at God's goodness and not only his faithfulness to get us through, but to bless us abundantly with the timing that WE wanted. It's so awesome to see God moving, and it's especially humbling when He grants our requests and gives us so much more than we deserve. This Thanksgiving we'll be giving EXTRA thanks that Dan found a job in Michigan where the unemployment tops well over 10%. This Christmas we'll be wonderfully grateful that God sent His Son so that we can go before Him in prayer for anything...even for a job.

The past year has taught Dan and I different things in different ways. We are, after all, individuals with individual weaknesses. But as a couple we've faced challenges too - challenges that neither of us knew came along with unemployment. For instance, the sudden role reversal of husband and wife - me leaving for work in the morning, Dan doing the grocery shopping and cooking. I think that once we get back to the natural order of things, we'll realize how wonderful it is to be back to normal :)

For my own memory's sake (when I look back at this in the future), the following are just a few verses that have carried me through the past 11 months...

"Call unto Me and I will answer thee and show thee great things of which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3

"Though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials, these have come so that your faith may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." 1 Peter 1:7

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:6-7

"Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.' The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Lamentations 3:21-26

I can't believe what a great God we serve. Our lives are not our own - and whether they're riddled with joys unknown or plauged with obstacles and frustrations, we are called as believers to live lives that GLORIFY God, not matter what our circumstances. How much more faith is demonstrated when giving thanks in times of trial than in times of plenty?

Salvation belongs to our God
Who sits upon the throne
And unto the lamb
Be praise and glory
Wisdom and thanks
Honor and power and strength

Be to our God
Forever and ever, amen

And we the redeemed shall be strong
In purpose, and unity
Declaring aloud
Praise and glory
Wisdom and thanks
Honor and power and strength
