It WAS an amazing show, despite my nauseous leanings towards the end, due to a mixture of: not eating enough during the day, lots of walking/standing, and the combination smell of turkey legs, marijuana, and feet. (Okay, I get doobies at Tom Petty, but U2? Really?)
I had a surreal moment when I realized that I've been listening to U2 for a good, solid ten years. And then suddenly there they were, right in front of my eyes. Their instruments hooked up to massive speakers and they were making beautiful noise that I'm ridiculously familiar with. And I wasn't listening to a recording or a watching a music video. I was watching it all unfold, in real life, in front of my eyes. I got goosebumps and was humbled.
My genius husband was able to keep us in the loop as far as the set list. His projected set list (see this post) was almost spot on. I think The Fly and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me were the only surprise songs. Before they started every song though, he would lean over and tell me which song they were about to play. And that's why I love him.
Tickets!! These have been pinned to our little cork-board for 18 months!

The view from our seats. Sadly, the one stage leg completely blocked me from seeing Larry Mullen.

We found my boss across the stadium! Don't worry - it wasn't creepy and stalker-ish. He texted me and waved to each other. Hi, Todd and Carrie!

And then it started! Some screen action with The Edge

The Edge, breakin' it down on I Will Follow.

Easy, Bono. The Praying Mantis is a difficult dance move to pull off...

Bono lovin' on the microphone

Adam Clayton. Punk.

The Edge, rounding our side of the 360 stage

The Edge & Bono

Bono, giving the people what they want!

SO many people!

I loved the black and white screen. It was like watching a music video!

One of my rare glimpses of Larry, via the bigscreen

Dan's dream guitar, a Gibson SJ-200. This was during Stay (Faraway, So Close)
"If I could stay, then the night would give you up
Stay and the day would keep its trust
Stay and the night would be enough"
I love that song. It's one of my favorites.

Getting dark!

Close-up of the screen dropping. SO COOL!

Far-away of the screen dropping. It was an INCREDIBLE stage. I think one of the largest in concert history.

I can hear it now, with the scratchy guitar riff in the background:
"You're a headache...in a suitcase...you're a star
Oh no, don't be shy
Hold me, thrill me, kiss me, kill me"

"It's not a hill it's a mountain as you start out the climb
Do you believe me or are you doubting?
We're gonna make it all the way to the light
BUT I KNOW I'LL GO CRAZY IF I DON'T GO CRAZY TONIGHT"

Until next time Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam. Because there WILL be a next time.
