I've been meaning to post pictures/videos from the Springsteen concert...but we got home at 2:00am Friday morning and I still haven't fully recovered. (Yes, the fact that it's three days later and I'm STILL feeling it is proof that I'm getting too old for this.) I'm bummed because, idiot me, didn't stop yelling along with the songs when I took videos and I can hear myself singing, loud and clear. It's horribly embarrassing and I thoroughly scolded Dan for letting that happen. (Because he confessed to me that he knew it would, but didn't stop it.)
So, in the meantime, a few tidbits:
- Me and Dan are going to Denver! Woo hoo! This is exciting!
- We found out that we owe almost double for federal taxes than we did last year - which is SUPER disappointing/confusing because we had the interest payments on our house AND property taxes this year. THIS IS NOT EXCITING. We're looking into getting a new accountant next year, who will sit down and explain things to us instead of just saying "Maybe you should look into having more withheld next year." Thanks a yahoo, man.
- Also found out Dan needs a $600 repair on his car :(
- We're trying, very hard, despite owing on taxes AND having a car repair not to let the bastards grind us down.
- I'm feeling super guilty that we jumped the gun and bought tickets to Denver, before knowing we'd owe SO much for taxes AND need and expensive car fix. But in my heart of hearts, I know that if we don't go now, it'll probably be years before we make it a priority to take a trip - just the two of us. So maybe it's a good thing that we bought the tickets beforehand. Because now we're committed and we're going to have an awesome time, just the two of us.
- I think I expect too much of myself in general because I have this pin on pinterest that says "Rest here. For a minute. It's okay." And literally, every time I glance at it while perusing pinterest, my eyes well up with tears. Need a break from your control freak self much? Apparently I do.
- This weekend I swept the basement and wiped down the walls from residual drywall dust. It SUCKED. It was way more work than I would have imagined and I'm one sore lady. But hey, basement's ready to be primed! We did the back bedroom and are slowly, slowly going to pick away at it. No hurry.
- I picked a new paint color for the front door. Hopefully next weekend, weather permitting, I'm going to try my hand at paint stripping, sanding, priming and re-painting the side service door (that nobody sees) as my guinea pig. Here's hopin'. This could be a hilariously disastrous experience.
- Last night me and Dan made a treat run. (I regret wearing capri sweatpants, socks and sandals. I thought I wouldn't be embarrassed. But I was.) While on the way home, Dan excitedly said - like he'd forgotten and was SUPER glad he remembered - "Oh! While I was on my way to Harbor Freight yesterday I saw a horse peeing! I was going to text you a picture, but didn't have time to take one." Uh....mkay?
What else is happening in my life? Oh!
- Due to the treadmill being broken, my mad cravings for exercise have driven me to run outside. I love outdoor running, but have always been intimidated by it because of the elements. I've been so spoiled by running inside in the comfort of my own home. The last time I tried running outside, I was relatively out of shape, it was 95 degrees and humid and things just didn't go well. So I was super nervous about how I'd perform, scared that my lack of outside running performance would depress me. Turns out, I ran a 5k in just over thirty minutes! Not super, but MUCH better than I was expecting!!!
Okay. I think that's enough tid-bits. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to post pictures from the concert!
Oh. P.S. The governor of Michigan sat three rows in front of us at Springsteen. He sat there the whole time, stiff backed with his hands resting on his knees. I mean, I understand that people in the public eye have a reputation and image to maintain. But for cripe's sake! You're at a concert! You're allowed to enjoy yourself! (Oh. He had a security team with him, and one of the security people was a lady. And she was totally like Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality. I just wanted to do her hair for her.)
