Oh. My. Goodness. I haven't made a blog entry in a lit'ral coon's age. We have been ALL kinds of busy with the start of spring/summer and consistently warm weather!
The basement project is a full-time job, not to mention, well...our full-time jobs :) and all the other house projects requiring our attention! We've been doing basement, exterior doors, flowers, lawn maintenance, Dan's been making improvements to his workshop...and I'm TRYING to keep up with laundry, and making sure the INside of the house is clean :) (Our poor bathrooms...I haven't cleaned them for about three weeks because my weekends/evenings have been devoted to painting our wretched doors. Seriously. WAY bigger and WAY more stressful project than I ever dreamed it would be.)
So, to avoid writing a novel on here, I'm going to catch up with a massive amount of pictures. Then, hopefully, I can get back in the saddle with updated in a timely fashion!
Oh. Also, I've been BUSY planning our trip to Denver which is in two and a half weeks!!! Every time I think about it (practically) I get E.P.! It's going to be SO much fun!
Okay...down to business.
Since I posted last, I stabbed myself in the calf with this steak knife. It's a long story. But the end result is, it happened. And it hurt. And I almost threw up.
My stab wound. From this angle it looks much smaller and less painful than it actually was. Something about puncture wounds...they hurt so badly. (Oh. Also, I had food poisoning earlier this week so that was cool. Cool in that it TOTALLY wasn't and was the worst 24 hours I've experience in a VERY long time.)
Woo hoo! Finally organized our "junk" cupboard! :) (So sad that this happened about two months ago and I'm just now posting about it. Get it together, Immel!)
Complete with pinterest inspired cork boards for easy inside-door storage! (And yes, that envelope says "treat money". We occasionally make slurpee and sonic runs and hate not having funds set aside for it.)
Booyah. Cardstock covered clothespins.
The battle wages on with my nemesis, Rory the chipmunk. I caught this portrait of him early on a Tuesday morning. Recent turning of tables though - now we have a MOLE in the yard, and I think it's doing something to the chipmunk population. I haven't seen or heard a PEEP from those fella! Do moles scare off chipmunks? Or, it could be the massive amount of rat poisoning I dumped down one of the chipmunk holes. Ever since I did that...strange things have been afoot underground in our yard. I feel like I could write a mystery novel about it.
Okay. Quick door re-cap. The previous color...I did not like and this picture doesn't capture it. It was this awful raspberry red color.
And, well, this picture speaks for the paint job. Drips and hideousness everywhere.
This is srsly how the people left the cualk job on the door. Outrageous!
More drips on the side panel of the front door. (This side panel...I'm just going to say it...was a BITCH.)
Lucky for me, the framing of the glass on the front and service doors were plastic and the paint peeled right off! A few hours with a razor blade....
...and they were clean as a whistle!
The side panel on the other hand...I accidentally put full power paint stripper on the plastic framing of the glass. And it kind of...softened it. So when I scraped the paint with a putty knife, it got all kinds of messed up. But hey...I did my best, tried to sand it down, and it still looks like crap. But hey, I'm a the point with these doors that, if it's complete and there are no drips and it's not raspberry red, I'm happy.
Anyway...here we go. Side panel, paint a-bubblin', ready to be peeled
Side panel strippage. This was not a fun job, folks. Not in the least.
Side panel primed! Yes!
Finished product! Do not be alarmed. It is nowhere NEAR as bright as this in real life. Something about this picture makes it look fire engine red when it's really kind of brick red. Look at the upper left corner of the door - that's really how it is all over.
Service door - done!
Check out that clean, clear caulk line and edging! Nice!
Over Memorial Day, Dan stained our oh-so-sun-bleached deck.
This is when he'd done the railing, but not the flooring. Check out that difference! Nice job, babe!
It's that floral time of year again!
I woke up one morning and overnight my Nicotiana just started sprouting with new buds! Yeah, there are some dying guys on there, but the new buds far outnumber the old ones! Success!
Thriving Clematis by the mailbox! It's going crazy! I bought bamboo stakes today at Menards to give this guy something to cling to as he grows!
Dan, my handy man, whipped up these saw horses in one evening (plus a few hours)! He's amazing!
Dan's homemade work bench. He made the plans and built it all himself, including the drawers. I'm so blessed to have such a handy husband! Seriously, anytime I say "Let's put such-and-such in this room," he chirps in with, "Hey, I can build that!" And he can - and does a great job!
Work bench complete with a custom miter saw space.
Nice, replaceable MDF top, so that if it gets too beat up, he can just replace the MDF instead of building a whole new top. Seriously, the guy thinks of everything!
CD organization. I just can't let go of my CD's yet...
Aaaand apparently there was a pickup truck convention at the neighbors' house and we didn't get the memo...
Okay. Definitely more real post to come later. But right now, it's 5:03 and I need to get away from my desk!
