Desk is done!

Poor Dan. This spring has been our outdoor project year. So...the guy has been BIZ. EE. Last year was my year of labor, doing lots and lots and lots of finishing work in the basement. This year the brunt of the works falls on his manly shoulders :) I help out where I can, but it's mostly his expertise. So, let this be a public declaration of my appreciation for all his good, hard work!

In his "spare time" between house project, my oh-so-talented husband managed to build us a mighty fine desk! Friday we'll be selling the 'ol desk upstairs and moving the Schu headquarters to the new built-in basement desk nook!

Here are a few pictures of the process! Due to limited picture resources at my place of work...the "before" pictures includes a really before picture :)

The desk nook, at the bottom of the stairs to the basement

The drawer fronts, in production :)

The two bases, ready for their top

Wow! Drawers! :)

The top, assembled but unstained (with the tester piece with stain on top)

The finished product! Again, Dan, you astound me with your craftiness!
I've been doing some outdoor exercising now that the weather is behaving nicely and balancing between too chilly and too warm. Growing up in the south, I got used to running in ridiculously humid conditions. So when I run at the local bike trail, I find myself breathing in the slightly cool, non-heavy morning air :) Michigan in the spring truly is a beautiful sight to behold!

Ah, lovely. Farmland everywhere you look!

Sky for miles! One of the first things that struck me after moving here; the sky and clouds are so different. They just go on and on and on.
We've got more projects on the to-do list for this spring/summer, which means the blog posts and pictures will be flowing abundantly. And if you don't care about my household projects...congratulations. You're a vast majority :)
