Nothing more important than to know someone's listening

Picture: Early morning at Bryan College. Being nostalgic is awesome. I loved waking up before campus, running and going to the weight room. (Except for the few times when I was in there with the entire guys cross country team. That was just awkward.) By the time I showered and got dressed, the sun was rising into the room.

Ah, Friday! Another week over, and y has it been a long and odd one. Sleeping in every morning, doing my devotions at work...with the Bible passage printed off from biblegateway.com. I'll be more than happy to welcome Monday with a fresh start (and hopefully a full week of gym-ing it up bigtime.)

Tonight, on a whim, me and Dan headed out for a delicious Mexican feast. I didn't finish my AWESOME fajita burrito, so guess who has two thumbs and is having Mexican again on Sunday? *Point thumbs towards self* This girl. (I won't kid you - I didn't finish my meal because who can keep themselves from the chips?)

Dan and I stopped by Target to "kill some time" after supper. We left with two new pillows, a pack of new bath towels and a new bookshelf. HOW did that happen? In our defense...we needed each and every item. Badly.

"Jesus doesn't condemn legitimate concern for responsibilities but rather the continuous mind-set that dismisses God's presence. Destructive anxiety subtracts God from the future, faces uncertainties with no faith, tallies up the challenges of the day without entering God into the equation. Worry is the darkroom where negatives become glossy prints."

"We expect him to come in the form of peaceful hymns or Easter Sundays or quiet retreats...We never expect to see him in a storm. But it is in storm that he does his finest work, for it is in storms that he has our keenest attention."

"We aren't to be oblivious to the overwhelming challenges that life brings. We're to counterbalance them with long looks at God's accomplishments...Do whatever it takes to keep your gaze on Jesus."

"Jesus could have calmed your storm long ago. But he hasn't...Storms aren't an option, but fear is."
