And we might live like never before

We ran out of jelly, so I'm having a peanut butter sandwich. It could possibly be one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had. And coming from a bread lover, that's saying something.

Last night I made a shocking discovery. Dan has won me over on this. I would rather have a Slurpee than a milkshake or some other ice cream treat. I always made fun of him for considering Slurpees/pop a "treat" when the word, for me, triggers a want for something heavy and creamy...full of dairy and calories. We headed out to Houseman's last night and I got a small peanut butter shake. It was so hot that it melted WAY too fast and I was finished with it by the time we got home. (Dan had finished his chocolate one too.) And it was then that I actually said the words, "We should've just had slurpees." Maybe tonight for the All-Star game...

Sometimes Damien Rice is just downright GOOD. It doesn't have to be a cloudy day to listen to Delicate through headphones, close your eyes and just listen to his voice and the strings and just be a little sad.

I really have a hankering to visit the Pacific Northwest. I wouldn't mind AT ALL living there. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Next summer I'd like to visit my parents in Idaho. I hope Dan has a job by then so we can actually consider it.

This morning part of my devotions was on being grateful. It was a wonderful reminder to me, especially now. This quote summed it up wonderfully for me: "Regardless of whatever is going on in our lives at any given moment, this fact is clear: We have been given life by a generous Giver, and His providence surrounds us daily. If we don't think so, we haven't opened our eyes."

Streams In The Desert this morning was about faith...

"...So God ever gives. So He is meeting you today, in the present moment. This is the test of faith. So long as you are waiting for a thing, hoping for it, looking for it, you are not believing. It may be hope, it may be earnest desire, but it is not faith; for 'faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.' The comment in regard to believing prayer is the present tense. 'When ye pray, believe that ye receive the things that ye desire, and ye shall have them.' Have we come to that moment? Have we met God in His everlasting NOW?

True faith counts on God, and believes before it sees. Naturally, we want some evidence that our petition is granted before we believe; but when we walk by faith we need no other evidence than God's Word. He has spoken, and according to our faith it shall be done unto us. We shall see because we have believed, and this faith sustains us in the most trying places, when everything around us seems to contradict God's Word.

Have you been waiting upon God, dear troubled one, during long nights and weary days, and have feared that you were forgotten? Nay, lift up your head, and begin to praise Him even now for the deliverance which is on its way to you."

This post is picture-less and slightly boring. A thousand apologies. Maybe this weekend I'll make up for it by posting Chicago pictures. (Side note: I can't stand it when people call Chicago "Chi-Town.")

T minus 4 days 'till Chicago. 10 'till home.
