I check myself out in the mirror, I wanna change my clothes, my hair, my face

What an appropriate title to this post. Not only because it's an awesome Bruce Springsteen song I'm listening to right now, but because we've now had our treadmill for over a MONTH without being able to us and I feel gross and I want change a lot of things about myself. The motivation is there...but the tool is still broken. HOPEFULLY Nordic Track will call this week!

Things are settling down. (Or so it seems.) Yesterday I actually found myself looking for something to do. It was a nice feeling. Our two big credit cards are paid off, we only have one more month of rent to pay at the apartment (or, "the vacation home" as we like to call it), and I think we can finally settle into a financial routine, which I've been craving since November 19th.

So the big news of the weekend is that yesterday Dan set up the base of the entertainment center that he built! It's AWESOME. I love it. The plan was for him to build a hutch to go with it, but when he got the base put together yesterday, we pretty much fell in love with the openness of it, and we're afraid that a hutch will make it too visually heavy and overbearing. So...we'll see. (But I think we were both persuading each other last night to just leave it.) I wish I would've uploaded pictures from my camera last night so I could post a pic. Oh well. Tonight, maybe. (Oh...the new entertainment center meant that we got to display our new, bigger t.v.! It's awesome. THAT means we can finally move our living room t.v. into our bedroom and wall mount it! YEAH!)

I made soft pretzels with the bread hook on my Kitchenaid on Saturday and they're the bomb. Whenever I make bread, that bread hook is going to become a crutch. I feel it already. It's way too convenient and easy.

So today is January 17th and on January 18th, the company making our window treatments is supposed to receive the back-ordered fabric! Hopefully in the next week or so they'll be shipping out our order and we'll finally have the roller shades I've been craving! I'm wondering how different it'll look to me, now that I've probably subconsciously gotten used to empty windows. Hm. We shall see. I'll definitely post pictures. (Side note - our hopeful bathroom mirror is supposed to arriving sometime around Feb. 2nd, so maybe we'll get roller shades and a mirror simultaneously! Christmas in early February!)

Last night we had Dan's parents' and Jessie over for a nice meal since we haven't formally had them over since we finished moving in. Dan made beer can chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and bread. (Yeah...I just made the brownies.) Anyway, I had to run into the grocery store to pick up some ice cream (Moose Tracks!) and the end of our road that T's into the main artery is NO LONGER a joke to me. I didn't brake soon enough and slid RIGHT through the intersection. Lucky for me we live in the middle of nowhere and nobody was coming. And literally, by God's goodness, I didn't slide right across the street, nose first into the ditch drop-off. There's no reason I should've stopped, but I did. I was pumping my brakes so hard, turning my steering wheel and I started crying and shaking a little. It was my closest call yet. If we're living in this house when we have kids who are learning to drive, I'll be the annoying mom who always tells them to be careful at the end of the road.

Oh! Oh! I'll close with this exciting news. Tonight, as one of my Christmas presents, my mother-in-law is taking me and my sister-in-law to see the Diana Exhibit tonight! It's "Ladies Night" with wine and chocolate. Excited, much? I'm so excited. I've been trying not to sneak peeks via Google image search, but it's so hard to restrain myself! Dan's mom said there was a little extra surprise and I'm HOPING it's a wedding dress replica in my size.

Also, just for funsies, this is the Twilight shirt Dan got me for Christmas...
