Bird-day week!

I get just as excited (if not more) for Dan's birthday than for my own. I LOVE birthdays. I don't know where this behavior stemmed from - my parents never made huge deals out of birthdays, neither did my in-laws or any family relation that I can think of. I love to get gifts, and I love to give gifts. And since at Christmas it's important to stay focused on the meaning of the season/giving, birthdays are a time, for me at least, to go buck nutty with the cake decorating, cheezy birthday signs, GIFTS, etc. I. Love. Birthdays. (And because of some random episode of The Office [I think?] we've adopted calling birthdays "bird-days." I don't know when this started, or if it will ever stop.)

I'm a sucker for scrapbooking supplies, not necessarily to scrapbook, but to make cards. I can't remember the last time I bought a greeting card because they're so blasted expensive. (Seriously? $4 for a card? In some instances that could be my actual gift.) Anywho, I try not to flake out and make them too homemade...so I love to get creative. Here's my envelope for Dan this year...

The week has taken a sudden turn for the rainy. And cold. We were cruisin' in the 50's and all-of-a-sudden it's drizzling/icing and in the low 30's. What the what?! Not to mention our sump pump's been running like a champ due to all the cold precipitation and melting snow in our back yard. Go sump, pump! Every time I run down to the basement I whisper to it, "Keep chuggin' little guy! We appreciate you!" Hopefully the words of endearment speak to its...motor?

We spent the last two suppers at my in-laws' house. No comment. It was situational.

My dad sent me this awesome picture this morning. The picture is taken directly over the camels - the black shapes are their shadows and the little white lines are the camels themselves! Awesome, no?!
