Alas, it is not. We all carry different crosses - and compared to some, my cross is not only manageable, but light. So with that in mind, I'm doing my best to carry my cross with grace and be thankful for good things about distance; the rare gut feeling that I have FIVE different homes instead of just one, the excitement of travel, the beauty I get to see in so many areas of the country...the list goes on and on.
That being said, I went to see my sister in Seattle for her 30th birthday! (My PREGNANT sister, which I can now say publicly since she's given me permission.) I left Grand Rapids on Wednesday morning, helplessly power walked past a Chick-Fil-A in the Cincinnati airport and just caught my flight to Seattle. I stayed until Sunday morning, when a TSA agent at security thought my beep-beep car watch belonged to the five year old boy behind me and handed it to him instead of me. (It was a near disaster.)
The adventure included but was not limited to:
1) A walk through Pike Place and the purchase of a delicious almond-y pastry treat for the ferry ride
2) LOTS of grocery shopping and me almost crying at the awe and wonder of Central Market's bulk food section
3) Baking a FEAST for Amanda's birthday (which included pound cake catching fire in the oven)
4) Boots shopping
5) A high school football game
6) Trip to La Push!
7) A traditional big fight that ended with me and my sister knowing, understanding and loving each other a little more than we already did
And now...pictures!
You can't not love and marvel at the flower at Pike Place

At the Market - Amanda forcing me to take a picture, while I'm saying, "No! I hate being the center of attention!"

A's birthday breakfast at Oak Table. Delishnable! (Sorry I'm in lots of these - they're pics Amanda took on her phone and emailed to me. I don't have my own pictures organized yet...so more to come...not of me.)

Tall, beautiful conifers outside Brenna and Rusten's house

Sists at the football game!

First Beach @ La Push

So pretty - if you look close you can see an eagle in the upper right quadrant of this picture.

Mandsy @ La Push

Me @ La Push, sending Dan a picture message (He sent a text back that said "watch out for werewolves and vampires" to which I replied "duh, vampires can't come to La Push")

When I got home, me and Dan went out to eat and on the way home I was quiet and Dan said, "What's wrong?" I started weeping (yes, weeping) and said, "I miss my family and I'm just...so tired." When we got home I slept for eleven hours.
And that's pretty much all she wrote.

I'm glad I read this because now I won't get offended when you don't make our every moment together a monumental post. Also, pshaw, you love being the center of attention (don't we all!).
