Lay-ba Day!

Whew! This holiday weekend has been just as productive as I dreamed it would be! And now, I'll list what I accomplished on Saturday, Sunday and what I hope to accomplish today (because it gives me a sense of self worth to see in writing the things I've done).

Saturday:
- Bought fall & winter candles at Bath & Body Works' 2/$20 candle sale
- Got a step stool for my closet (which I desperately need, because my fall sweaters are on my top shelf)
- Bought a lamp for the loft!
- Cleaned out, swept and primed the trim in the back bedroom of the basement
- Pulled my annuals (because I was getting lazy with them and they were looking terrible)

Sunday:
- Church
- Grocery shopping
- Lunch and shoe shopping with Dan and Jessie (Dan was a trooper)
- Laundry
- Painted (1st coast) the back bedroom trim

Monday:
- Second coat of back bedroom trim
- Prime the trim of the front basement room (and the bookshelf at the bottom of the stairs)
- Do a test-run of a chocolate covered cheesecake bites

Here's the back room in the basement (Dan's future music room) that I'm starting to pick away at. You can see in the corner where I stopped priming to take the picture :) Oh...how could I forget this?! On Friday, Dan bought a DRUM SET off of craigslist! Hahaha!!

This is a project I've had finished for a while, but keep forgetting to post pictures. The hallway leading past the kitchen (and connecting the master bedroom and living room) was empty for a long time. I wanted to put up some family pictures, since I've been trying to avoid the picture-frames-all-over-the-house look, since it's kind of cluttered (or so I think). So, my solution was to create this display of family pictures. (Dan's parents and Jessie and Ramon are on the opposite wall...don't worry, I didn't forget about them.)

Here's a close-up of one of the pictures. Obviously, it's Mercy, Ben and Nate.

We're having an open house on September 24th for our loved ones to come peruse our almost-completed house. This has inspired us to finish up our loft area. Dan's currently working on building the bookshelf (that will span the length of the back wall) and side table for the reading chair. The little black round lamps will sit on top of either end of the bookshelf. I LOVE them when they're turned on. So cute!

Here's the chair we got from Costco, and the glass lamp I picked up from Pier 1 this weekend. It's a little daring. BUT, I wanted something glass for the clean, simple look. But I also needed a splash of color, since everything in the loft is brown/beige. Hopefully the purple adds a good punch rather than an obnoxious punch :) Also, the lamp will obviously sit on the side table :)
