I had a wonderful beyond wonderful week and weekend. Last week was ridiculously productive for me. I accomplished EVERY task that was written down in my planner. It was 100% satisfying. The big CHECK of the week was priming, painting, sealing and touching up the trim in the basement. That mess is TEDIOUS! But it's done!
To wrap the week up, two of our good friends drove over from the East side of The Mitten to enjoy the Michigan vs. Notre Dame football game on Saturday night.
Saturday a.m. I got up and ran, vacuumed, dusted, and made a pit stop at Dan's grandma's house which was listed on the Historical Homes Tour that was going on. She had the house all spiffed up and had a lot of her antique artifacts sitting out. It was SO interesting! I guess when she remodeled part of her house, she found a hand written letter in between the walls that mentioned "the red devils" (aka Native Americans). It's obvious that it's REALLY old. The house was built in the 1850's I think? Anyway, I'm glad I found time to drop in - it was surprisingly interesting!
Saturday afternoon me, Dan, Jay and Ric made a trip to Holland so that Jay could check off another of the Great Lakes that he's gone swimming in. Unfortunately, the beach was SO foggy. The water was freezing and the air was warm, so you could hardly see 20 yards in front of you.

The water temperature was under 50 degrees. Obviously, this didn't stop Wonder Jay from venturing into the water to play.

Jay & Ric decided to be jerks and throw the football juuuuust out of reach so Jay would have to dive into the freezing water to catch it. Yeah...jerks.

In retaliation, Jay would throw it back, just short of the shoreline. Obviously, Ric had to hike up the shorts to reach it without getting wet. Ah, friendship.
After the Lake, we came home and made puppy chow, chili and deep fried wings. (Side note: while making the wings we discovered a wasp nest in our back porch light. It was a nightmare.) The game didn't disappoint - there were more emotions spewing from Ric and Dan in the last 1:12 than I've ever seen come from a male.
Sunday morning we all slept in, took it easy and watched the Lions win. Holla! That was pretty much all that happened Sunday. Awesome.
Jay AND my parents both found houses they might be interested in! Woo hoo! I want Jay to buy a house so I can help him decorate it and I want my parents to buy a house so my whole family can comfortably visit them :) Plus, it has a view of the mountains and is just super cute in general.
The summer's for real winding down. The trees are getting tints of color around the edges and the lows are creeping into the 40's at night. I think that high on Thursday is in the upper 50's! (Fluke, I know, but still!) The fall decor is comin' out soon folks. I don't know how long I can hold off.
