It seems like I've been so busy with huge events that I haven't been able to update with just a random smattering of pictures - irrelevant to each other - for a LONG time! So...here we go!
A few weeks ago, Dan was perusing craigslist (as he LOVES to do) and came upon a $450 dust collector that was being sold for $100! What WHAT?! As I wholeheartedly have been encouraging his dust collector ventures (less sawdust in the shop = less sawdust in my house), I told him he should go for it! The next day, we drove just north of town to pick it up.
Turns out, the guy selling it was an older fella who needed a bigger dust collector for his...get ready for this...toy making! He makes these awesome, quality wood toys. Like multi-car trains, bi-planes, helicopters, etc. He gave me his card with a list of craft shows he attends every fall. (I'm SO going to buy something for my future child/children.) Anyway, his wife comes downstairs to greet us (in an apron covered in flour) and told me that she does all the painting of the toys! Well, hello, Santa & Mrs. Clause!! It was the most charming thing ever.
Dan, building his custom record stand for the basement. I love that's going to be two-toned! |
Mad skillz. I love that Dan is so into and talented with wood working. It's so amazing to see what he can do! |
So, I have a...sketchy at best relationship with kitchen knives. (See this post for when I stabbed my leg) Every time I pick up a knife to chop veggies I think to myself, "Is this it? Is this going to the day I really hurt myself?" Well, as luck would have it, Saturday was not that day!...barely. Luckily, I had let my fingernails grow a bit longer than usual. If my thumb nail had been any shorter, I (for reals) would've sliced off the tip of my thumb.
God bless ya, thumb nail, for taking the brunt of that slice. I was obviously using so much force that the blade just totally sheared my nail right off! Can you believe this?! |
I posted this to facebook, but have to put it here too. I love a good, homemade loaf of bread. Not only is bread delicious, but it's so beautiful to boot!! :)
And lastly, my home, in the fall. One of my favorite things in the universe. As much as I miss Waxhaw (at all seasons) and my parents' house, this beautiful abode is slowly becoming just as welcoming and comfortable to me. Home makes me feel so warm.
The sun shining on our neighbors' tree. Gorgeous! |
In case you're really having trouble deciphering this one...the wreath on my front door :) |
2012 fall porch decor! (My wrestling match with that bale of hay in the Meijer parking lot will have to be saved for another post...) |
