I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now!

Don't you believe for one SECOND that I've already put up Christmas decorations. No, sir. Not in this house. (Although, no judgment if you already have.) Since it's the first year of Christmas decor in our new house, the task is proving to require MUCH brainstorming, planning and organization. What's that you say??? I just happen to know someone who LOVES brainstorming, planning and organization!

This is how I decorate: the day after Thanksgiving. I wake up to a normal, post-fall Thanksgiving, have a couple good toots thanks to all the food from yesterday (don't judge...I'm just being real)...but then, in a matter of hours, BAM! it's a Christmas Wonderland. None of this gradual I'll-slowly-put-Christmas-accents-up-throughout-the-season crap.

So with that attitude in mind, I'm setting myself up for total and complete quick success come November 25. This means figuring out what I'm going to do in every area of the house and making sure I have the bulk of the supplies to pull off every project, while cleverly avoiding the Black Friday chaos at Meijer, Home Depot, or any other superstores where I can find Christmas lights and extension cords.

All of that being said, here's a painfully lame-o sneak peek at what's been a-brewin' in the Schu house for the past week.

The guest bedroom, a.k.a. Staging Central

This (along with its twin) is one of the treasures I picked up at the Nordlie Christmas show. I have a super secret, super cute project going on with these beauties! I can't WAIT to see the finished product!

This is as in-depth as I'm willing to go when it comes to sneak peeks. Anything more is giving too much away. GAH! So excited!

So, I found this beautiful wreath at Nordlie. I should've taken a close-up of the pine cones. They're so insanely realistic.

I added these 'lil accents to spruce her up a bit - not that it was NEEDED. I love the natural look when it comes to Christmas.

Check out this SUPER cute little birdie. (I like to this it's a turtle dove because I got two to use...so let's call him a turtle dove.)

Let me tell you. It takes attaching two awkward "turtle doves" to a wreath with fishing line to truly appreciate the green florist wire I got from The Lob yesterday. I love fishing line because it's invisible, but with hands sweaty from stress, a turtle dove with unusually large claws and artificial pine poking at you...that florist wire is, if not a life saver, then at least a hand saver.

AH! The beginnings of my beautiful garland!! (This is one of two strands that's been put up. I have four more to go. I only put it up to play with the lighting, make sure it would be stable, look good, etc.)

I ALMOST settled for some garland from Costco, until my mother-in-law introduced me to the Awe and Wonder that is the Nordlie selection of artificial greenery. I was practically drooling over this, so she SUPER kindly decided to buy my six strands as an early Christmas gift. She kept saying, "Don't be disappointed on Christmas morning though when you don't get a big gift." Um, please. How could I POSSIBLY know that this heavenly garland lives in my home and be DISAPPOINTED?!

Here she is, lining the loft, my "test pieces." This is, obviously, without the lights added.

Sneak peek! I had extra ornament and couldn't let them go to waste. In this horrible lighting without the finishing touches, these look kind of tacky. Trust. They'll be presh.

I have a problem. THIS is why I need to take inventory of my seasonal candles before taking advantage of Bath & Body Works' 2 for $20 sale EVERY TIME THEY HAVE IT. Although...I DO love their new scents this year...maybe I'll have to swing by the mall on Sunday. (No, Heidi! NO!...but maybe.)

Heeeeeey, folks

Okay - total whiplash out of Christmas decor mode. My sister passed this super awesome issue of Look magazine onto me. It's a November 1964 issue, a tribute to JFK. If you remember, I took this to Hobby Lobby to have it framed and matted. I don't think I ever showed the finished product. I love it!

Okay...I feel like the end of this post is a little choppy and disjointed. Oh well...at least there were pictures, right? :)
