Dan and I first heard The Avett Brothers play at the Grammy's and liked them right away! Come to find out, they're from Concord, N.C.! So close to my hometown! All the more reason to love them. And I do. I love them.
So Dan's getting sick :( He has a cough, sore throat, congestion, the whole kit & kaboodle. On my way home today I'm going to stop at Target and stock up on some cold supplies: Puffs Kleenex with Vicks (I never use any other Kleenex when I'm sick), Daytime meds, Nighttime meds...the usual. I'm hoping he feels well enough to head out for our excursions tomorrow morning! There's nothing like an early morn trip to Home Depot to start the weekend off right :) (Well, after gooey monkey bread and french press coffee, of course!)
We're hiring a new employee at work and it's my job to post the ad and sift through resumes. This is truly an emotionally draining process. The hardest thing in my life, EVER, that I've had to do was, as a wife, watch my husband look for work and not be able to find it. He faced rejection, no feedback, no leads, and there wasn't a thing in the world I could do for him. Because I remember those painful feelings oh-so-well, every time we hire, I make it a personal mission to write back to each applicant and tell that their resume was received, wish them luck, and tell them I'm here to answer any and all questions regarding feedback, interviews, etc. People didn't offer Dan that kind of support and assistance, so in doing so, I hope that I can encourage these people in maybe just a small way as they face the daunting job market. It might sound silly, but it makes me emotionally tired because I wish I could take on each one of the dozens of people who apply, and personally help them find work.
On a lighter note, it's been forever since I went to Awkward Family Photos, and when I did this morning, boy did I find some gems! I hope this finds you a laugh on your Friday...

Those are funny... I get annoyed with AFP because they have so many ads now.
