I'm back in the saddle again

No pictures. I hate posting without pictures. I scrounged and tried to be creative, but I've got nothin' on this wintry Monday morning.

That's right. Just as spring was peeking around the corner to tease me, winter reared its ugly head yesterday around noon with some snow flurries. By 2:00 it was a full-blown heavy snow. By this morning we'd picked up about eight more inches of the white stuff :( My drive to work was less than pleasant. Wind gusts on an open country road aren't bad when you wheels can actually get some traction on the road. But when the road's a sheet of ice, it gets tricky my friends. I made it, I'm alive. (We drove separately this morning because Dan has a work function today and tomorrow that require him to be early and late. But hey, supper's catered, so he's not complaining.)

Well, yesterday was monumental. I woke up at 7:00, headed to the basement with my running shoes on, turned on some Grey's Anatomy and started to run. That's right. The treadmill is finally up and running! And yesterday, my oh-so-loving husband sacrificed a nap to put together my sit-up bench so I could use it this morning. Ah, love :) Needless to say, my months of inactivity have led to some sore legs, but it's the sweetest feeling in the world! Running, lunges, squats, sit-ups...I'm back in the saddle again!

On a side note. I always thought Nordic Track was the IT brand for treadmills. After our first experience where our treadmill arrived unusable, I thought maybe it was a quirk or freak incident. But as Dan put our second Nordic Track together on Saturday night, some things just seemed off. The first treadmill had words printed on the steel - this time, it was just easily peel-off-able stickers. ??? Parts of the plastic molding were cracked, preventing some pieces from fitting together perfectly right. It's still usable and nothing's too wrong that we have to report it, but I'm disappointed. We paid a lot of money for this, and I would've expected 1) better quality and 2) better service when it comes to delivery. (We're responsible for getting rid of our broken machine and when our new one was delivered, it was literally curb-side drop off. Not cool.) All in all, I probably wouldn't recommend Nordic Track to anyone. We're definitely buying a warranty for it, because we're a little more wary now than we were when we made the initial purchase.

Between now and next weekend we'll probably install the trim and door. After that, all that's left is ordering our wood blind. Woo hoo! At that point, I'll finally post before/after pictures.

Mirror sage in bullet-point nutshell:
- Bought our first bathroom mirror at Target. It was too small. Until we were able to get to Novi, we would prop it up on the counter as a temporary mirror.

- We finally got to Novi and bought our second mirror that was labeled "30x40". We made the hour and a half trip home, only to realize it was a behemoth and the actually mirror was 30x40, not including the 4" frame around the outside. Instead of driving all the way back to return it, we decided to use it in the guest bedroom upstairs.

- I found our third mirror online at J.C. Penney and ordered. It was back ordered until February 2nd. On the 2nd, the shipping date moved to the 10th. On the 10th, it moved to the 11th. Finally, on the 16th, it had arrived at the store. We went to pick it up...the mirror had shattered in delivery. GAH! Dan found an identical one that we brought home...and realized that it looked hideous in the space.

- This weekend we bought our fourth mirror at Home Depot. A pretty beveled mirror with a primed solid wood frame. We decided to take it home and paint it white. As I opened the cardboard case to paint it, I saw that one corner was completely shattered and there were splinters everywhere.

- We went back to Home Depot and bought our fifth mirror that will HOPEFULLY be the winner.

Last night I asked Dan if there was anything I could pray for him specifically for. I said, "It seems like the biggest thing we both need prayer about right now is work stuff." He said, "Yeah that and mirrors." Amen to that.
