The song of the blackbird is mighty clear on a morning such as this

Ah, glorious morning! The snow is melting, the sun is out, and for the first time in months, I could actually see the pavement on our road!

Yesterday was mild and felt, dare I say, like spring! Last night we went to sleep with crazy winds whipping around the house and woke up to what felt like a March morning. The breeze is blowing and I hardly needed my winter coat on the drive to work. It probably won't last long before another cold spell hits us, but it's a nice and much-needed reminder that warm weather will reign once again...and soon! It's even supposed to rain at the end of this week. That's right, not snow...RAIN! Woo hoo!

So the weekend's big news? The exercise room is officially drywalled, primed and painted! I'm not putting any pictures up until it's completely done - I want the transformation to seem drastic, not gradual. We decided to do white trim in the basement and I'm SUPER excited about it. So all that's left (for that room) is a wood blind, painting the window trim, buying and painting the floor trim and laying down the foam floor. I'm bummed because I was going to ask one of my co-workers to stop by after work tomorrow and help Dan move the treadmill into the exercise room. But he's out sick today :( Alas, more patience. Speaking of more patience, our cordless blind for the front door has been delayed...again. Until March 1st. We ordered it in mid-November, for Pete's sake! At any rate, hopefully by the end of this week, even though the trim won't be up, I'll have a working treadmill that I can start running on!

Our big Valentine's Day plans? We're getting Chinese takeout, going home to order a movie off of t.v. (which we've never done before, so it's a real treat!) and staying in. I couldn't be happier. I'm really excited about it. (And who knows? Maybe this warm weather will encourage a Slurpee run!)

Last night as we were watching the Grammy's (in bed because my back is KILLING me...there's a back story - no pun intended - that involves falling down the stairs at my in-laws' house three years ago, followed by an unfortunate sledding incident) and I realized that Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons looks uncannily like my husband, guitar and all...

Also, just because it's so beautiful and refreshing...

What have Upper Midwestern winters done to me? I used to thrive in fall and winter. This is the first time ever that I've craved spring and summer. What's happening to me?
