It was a restful but productive day. Dan had brought some work home and spent time upstairs in the office, responsibly working away. I, on the other hand, took the opportunity to prep supper for last night and tonight, washed dishes, took a romp outside in the oh-so-deep snow, had waffles and coffee for lunch, then fell asleep watching The Two Towers.
Radar at a little after 8am

Our back deck, before sun-up

Back deck, after sun-up

Front door. Normally, there's about a 12" drop-off from the from slab. But here, the ground looks completely level because of how deep the snow is!

This for real scares me. Roof collapse, anyone? (Don't worry - we're borrowing Dan's dad's roof scraper to fix this ASAP.) The roof of the third stall of the garage, looking out of the office window

Where the woods start, it looks like there's little hills in the landscape. Nope. It's just snow drifts.

Our woods with the snow still falling. It reminds me of the Forbidden Forest, how it starts out thin, then thickens the farther back you go.

Front door icicles!

Our neighbor, fruitlessly fighting the falling snow

Neighbor again. Poor guy.

Our mailbox, buried in snow

Dan (looking like a piece of poop), ready to head outside. (For some reason he thought his pajamas pants - "Teddy Pants" - would be warm enough for single degree temperatures. He didn't last long out there.)

Me, suited up with my fleece pants tucked into my boots.

Dan outside. The snow was SO bright!

Snow got blown into our mailbox :( It didn't make anything soggy because it wasn't even close to melting.

More snow

I for real got stuck in this drift. My boot was stuck and I had one small moment of panic before I wiggled my foot free.

With my bulky gloves, I accidentally changed the setting on my camera and the rest of the pictures were WAY over-exposed. So that why the next couple look weird. These are the stairs to the deck. A MOUND of snow on every step.

If you look close, you can see on my right leg, where my foot broke through the snow. It's well above my knee.

Our wreath :) It's February, winter will soon be over and thus, the wreath will come down.

The deck after my romp.

The sun eventually decided to come out, but I don't think it got over 15 degrees all day and the wind didn't really die down.

Now "Blizzard 2011", as they're calling it, is over and it's back to work and life as normal. It takes a lot, living here, to shut down a city. So I have a feeling I'll look back on February 2, 2011 for a long time and remember our care-free day of being snowed in together :)

One of my favorite posts ever!!!! How great! I LOVE the snow on the winter wreath. Beautiful! That snow is crazy! Your house is so lovely- and the woods! It's supposed to snow in Houston, now that is crazy.
That much snow only shut y'all down for a day? Y'all must have a lot of salt trucks!
We do! But it's too cold for salt to work right now, so it's just been plows. The roads are still really snowy and icy - it's just all packed down. When it gets into the upper 20's they'll start to salt though!
